EXPECTATION
We”re used to
instant results.Computer technology
has led us
to believe that
anything requiring more
than a few
seconds is slow. But
good things take
time. It takes fifty{ 50} years or
so to grow
a good tree , tall
and strong. Building fine
furniture requires a
craftman”s skill ; that takes
TIME. And forming a
mature mind takes
TIME too.
You”ve learned not
to judge a
class by their
first day”s behaviour. You”ve also
learned not to
judge a student
by the results
of that fast
pop quiz.
Be PATIENT
with yourself
as well. Don”t judge
your work by
one day”s results. Take
a longer view. Make
your investment of
time , energy , and skill
now , and then learn
to expect a
return –even if it takes a
while. EXCELLENCE IS
A PROCESS , NOT AN
EVENT.
Expect the same
for your students. LOOK FOR GROWTH
OVER A MONTH ,
A YEAR ,
OR A LIFETIME. ALLOW TIME
FOR MATURITY. Let the
seeds of knowledge
grow into WISDOM
and respect INTO CHARACTER. Be PATIENT.
The most important
things take time.
“ SCHOOL IS
A BUILDING THAT
HAS FOUR WALLS --- WITH TOMORROW
INSIDE . “ -----Lon Walters.
