We live in
an information age ,
and the information
changes almost daily. Organizations change. Facts change. Discoveries are
made.Methods become outmoded. What was
true a day ago
may be untrue
today or -----worse yet----irrelevant. The teacher
is the student”s
guide through the
information jungle. It”s the
teacher”s job to
know not only
what is true , but also what
matters.
That means
keeping up on
current events. It means
reading periodicals , listening
to the news , asking questions ,
and doing research.
Our world is
“wired “ for knowledge ---from the
living room / sitting room
to the library. In
most cases , information is
only a mouse
click away. World events
are no longer
“over there “. The world
has come to us.
Staying informed
also means being
knowledgeable of current
methods of communication. Seminars , either on—line
or on—site , are available
to keep your
professional skills fine –tuned . Keep
up with trade
journals. Take a refresher
class. JOIN A STUDY
GROUP. Have someone evaluate
your presentations. Make the
commitment to do
whatever it takes
to stay on
the cutting edge.
LIFE is an
information superhighway. Don”t
miss the bus.
“ SIXTY YEARS
AGO , I KNEW
EVERYTHING ; NOW I KNOW
NOTHING ; EDUCATION IS A
PROGRESSIVE DISCOVERY OF
OUR OWN IGNORANCE.” –Will Durant.
